Sling Loads/Hoist Operations in Multiplayer Using the Shared Aircraft Option

altOverview: The premise here is to outline a method whereby Sling Load/Hoist operations can be conducted in a multiplayer session on Game Spy using the shared aircraft option. The desire effect is to have two players, one in the pilot role and the other as crew chief, working together to add additional realism to these operations. These operations are conducted in a “free flight” environment as opposed to the “multiplayer missions” scenarios now available with FSX Acceleration. Using a saved flight as the bases this method enables both players to see the same objects while sharing an aircraft, and simultaneously see the actions of those objects while conducting their Sling load/Hoist operations. It should be noted that while I and another player have used this method with success it does take some time for the players involved to become coordinated with each other.

Freeware VFR Flight Planning Tool

altTASoftware Releases Plan-G. Plan-G is a freeware VFR flight Planning tool for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and 2004. Plan-G, uses the acclaimed Google Maps mapping tool. Any geographical feature which exists in Google Maps can be included in your flight plans, and all the features of Google Maps are now fully available. Waypoints can be added, amended and deleted and track lines dragged to new waypoints with the mouse. Flights can be saved in FS9 or FSX format and existing flight plans created in FS itself can be imported, displayed and modified as required. Plan-G also connects to FS9 or FSX so you can see your aircraft moving across the map as you fly, with the option to also display aircraft instrumentation, heading, altitude, distance to run, course deviation etc. AI aircraft or other aircraft in a multiplayer session within a configurable range may also be displayed. Flight trails can be recorded and weather data can be imported from FS to help calculate headings and leg times.
